I like bacon. Most people I know like bacon, except for my vegetarian friends. They probably like bacon too, but either don't know it, or won't admit it. Bacon is good.

I know this blog is supposed to be about baseball, seeing as how MLB is paying for the bandwidth. But I figured that since I've given MLB a lot of my money over the years, it would be okay for me to go ahead and write about bacon on their dime.

Just to be safe, as I write this, the Reds are leading the Brewers 4-3 in the bottom of the 2nd inning, in Milwaukee.

Now, back to the bacon.

I have an awesome propane grill that my wife gave me for my 40th birthday. This grill has a sideburner on it, with a griddle. Ever since I got the grill, we've used it to cook bacon. That way, the house doesn't smell like grease for three hours after the fact, and cleanup is a whole lot easier. Also, it's a fun way to mess with the neighbors, since bacon isn't an odor that one usually associates with grilling out.

Top of the 3rd now, still 4-3.

One day last fall, we were going to have some bacon, but we had used up all of our propane, and I didn't feel like going to Kroger to buy some more. I was cool with cooking the bacon in the house.

My wife, however, had other ideas. Check it out...

Since the grill was out of propane, my wife took the electric griddle outside, and cooked the bacon that way. Let's take a look at it from another angle...

Sure, we could have cooked the bacon inside, but would that have been nearly as fun as this? I don't think so.

Bearing witness to such awesomeness was truly a watershed moment in my life. I heaped praise upon my wife for such MacGyver-esque inventiveness, and told her that this is something I would have expected a guy to think of. But it wasn't a guy. It was my awesome wife.

After watching the Reds-Diamondbacks game on Fox Sports Ohio tonight, I switched over to Baseball Tonight on ESPN. Leading into the highlights was a shot of what looked like a Reds cap and a Diamondbacks cap.

On closer inspection, that wasn't a Reds cap. It was Hiroshima Toyo Carp cap. You can see the word "Carp" on the front of the hat, and the "C" logo doesn't have the black undershadow that the Reds caps have.

So what's the deal? ESPN has a Japanese team's cap laying around the office, but not a Reds cap? Or did they just think nobody would notice?
